DevLog 1! 1 day to demo release


Caz here! Posting the first devlog for this game... but well, nobody's gonna see this because our page is still on admins only LOL

One day to prototype release! I'm super hyped to put this out into the world, and we'll see how people like it! For the past two weeks as part of the GGJ Global Game Jam 2020,  Nak, Muffy and I have been working our butts off on this demo, learning how to use GameMaker from scratch, etc. We'd like to give a huge shoutout to GGJ NEXT and their sponsors, the Sheridan team and all the mentors of the event that have helped us out along the way, pushing us past our comfort zones to try new things and offering insight and advice from their fields.


As for this demo, the actual gameplay itself is probably going to be pretty underwhelming... we're not too familiar with coding and using the engine and all that, but trust me when I say that over the past two weeks of working on this, we've become completely and utterly attached to our own characters, and this little world we've made within this game. It's been a difficult road, putting this together (a LOT of 2am nights), learning new programs, new skills (I need to up my pixel art and animation game!) and trying to recreate this vision we have in our heads for this game.

As for long-term goals, we want to release this as a full game in the future. 100%. With complete character sprite animations, better fighting and game mechanics, and tons of levels to keep playing. Apart from Mera (the earth elemental with the curly brown and green hair) and Kahuo (our beloved fire wielding main character), we have at least 6 (well... 5 and a half, you'll see!) other new characters currently in development, plenty of lore and storylines, and we hope that you'll love them as much as we do :)
